Seasoning Bake Planner
A tacky film is almost never the fat and almost always the temperature. Polymerisation needs the layer driven past its smoke point and held there; short of that it oxidises into something sticky and brown. Pick your fat, tell the planner what your oven can actually reach, and it returns the bake temperature, the coat-by-coat schedule and an honest outlook on how hard, and how brittle, the cured film will end up.
Iodine value 130 — the higher the number, the harder and the more brittle the cured film.
Thin, and wiped back until the surface looks dry. Three honest coats beat six thick ones.

236 °C / 457 °F
Smoke point 216 °C plus 20 °C of headroom, held inside the 230–260 °C domestic oven envelope. Polymerisation needs the fat driven past its smoke point; below about 230 °C the layer oxidises without cross-linking and you get the sticky brown film that gets blamed on the method.
